Life In the Spirit

Our first interaction with the Holy Spirit takes place prior to new birth. The Holy Spirit convicts us of our sin and reveals our need for a Savior. This first interaction with the Holy Spirit further demonstrates the love He has for people who are lost in their sin.  

The Holy Spirit is a divine person, a coequal member of the Trinity. Since He reveals Himself as person with a mind, will and emotions, we can know Him and we should know the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.

Who is the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit is God, He is God the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit dwells in all born again believers, but He is not a thing or an impersonal force, He is a divine person. The Holy Spirit reveals Himself as a person through scripture and He invites us to know Him. 

Hannah the mother of Samuel is an incredible story of faith. Hannah had faith that she would conceive and bear a son. Hannah faced many obstacles that stood in her way along with a rival who tormented her. But throughout her trials Hannah remained committed to God and His promise by faith.

We've all heard the phrase sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me. Words can hurt and cause a wound. Our words can be used as weapons and promote death, or our words can be used for healing and give life. 

Identifying with certain aspects of Christianity does not make a person a Christian. A person becomes a Christian when they place their faith in Jesus Christ and experience new birth. 

In this message Pastor Tyler focuses on the parable of the persistent widow as our faith example. When the odds are stacked against us and when there seems to be no hope in a situation, we must persist in faith and prayer.

God created us to fulfill His plans and purposes. Jesus redeems us to fulfill God's redemptive plan. The Holy Spirit transforms and empowers us to live the life Jesus lived. Jesus came to serve. Therefore our purpose in Christ as a believer and collectively as a church is to serve the plans and purposes of God.

God created mankind to fulfill His plans and purposes. Man cannot fulfill his purpose outside of a relationship with Jesus Christ. Only in Christ we can know and fulfill our created purpose. God created us as His masterpiece to fulfill His purposes and one of those purposes is worship. At the heart of worship is love and devotion. 

Creation is God's masterpiece. Man is the pinnacle of God's masterpiece, created in the image and likeness of God. God created man for the purpose of fellowship. Sin separated man from the perfect fellowship he enjoyed with God in the Garden of Eden. Jesus came to redeem mankind from their sin and restore us relationally to God, fulfilling God's creative purpose.
