Life In the Spirit

We are as close or near to God as we desire. If we want to experience a closer relationship with God it's available to anyone who will come and seek God's face. God has done everything on His part to make a close relationship with Him possible. All we have to do is to supply the want to and the commitment to get closer to God.

If you have ever felt like you can't go on, all hope is gone our you feel trapped; the vision God showed too Ezekiel of a valley of dry bones will encourage you. Whatever the dry bones represent in your life can live again.

Jesus said it was to our advantage that He goes away so the Holy Spirit would come in His absence. The Holy Spirit is a divine person, not an impersonable force. He is an advantage born again believers should experience.

The gifts of the Spirit are still available to all born again believers. The gifts of the Spirit have a ministering purpose and greatly assist believers in Christian living and furthering the kingdom on God. In this message we are concentrating on the gifts of revelation: word of wisdom, word of knowledge and discerning between spirits.

There are nine gifts of the Holy Spirit recorded in I Corinthians chapter twelve. Those gifts are relevant and available to all born again believers. Spiritual gifts are distributed by the Holy Spirit to believers for a ministering purpose. 

Tongues can be a sign that a believer has received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Tongues are also a spiritual gift. Tongues can also have a devotional use referred to as praying in the Spirit. In this message we make the distinction between the gift of tongues and the devotional use of tongues as a personal prayer language.

There are three expressions of tongues in the New Testament. In this message we are concentrating on tongues that are a sign accompanying the reception of the baptism of the Holy Spirit. 

The purpose of the baptism of the Holy Spirit is a promised experience that meets a ministering purpose, a Spirit empowered witness. A world lost in sin desperately needs a church who reaches out in a Spirit empowered witness. 

The baptism of the Holy Spirit is a promised experienced separate and distinct from new birth. The purpose of the baptism of the Holy Spirit is a Spirit empowered life and a Spirit empowers witness.

When we are born again we are set apart by God, sanctified to live out the plans and purposes of God. The Holy Spirit helps us and empowers us to live the plans and purposes of God. God is holy and He calls us to live a holy life.
