The altar is a place where believers present ourselves to God as a living sacrifice. The altar in the Old Testament was a physical structure where sacrifices were presented in worship to God. In the New Testament, is a place of sacrifice and humility. The altar is more than a structure or a place in the church. The altar is a place within a believer's heart.

We are in a spiritual war with a real spiritual adversary who seeks our destruction. Our adversary looks for opportunities to steal, kill and destroy but we must resist him in the faith. Key to overcoming our adversary is our submission to God. Unless we submit first to God it will be difficult for a believer to resist the adversary.
